HIKVAARI GAADI MOVING SCHOOL

This is a Community-Immersive Education project, an extension of the G.U.M.S Kalandri School that aims to demonstrate how learning can be joyful, relevant, compassionate & meaningful for learners. Most significantly, It envisions to question & dissipate the general notions about who can learn, how to learn, and where can one learn, in remote rural geographies by promoting an inter-generational learning space using a Moving Vehicle as a tool to ignite the minds of the learners

What is Hikvari Gaadi

Our The Hikvari Gaadi is a local dialect term used to denote the meaning "A Vehicle of Learning" or "Seekhne ki Gaadi" It is a custom-designed vehicle in the form of a food truck, that is incorporated with resources such as writing material, projector screen, tinkering tools, a small library and small seating arrangement that can house up to 15 students to engage in a collaborative learning environment.



How will this project address the Issues

Objectives of Hikvari Gaadi Project:To facilitate local inter-generational after-school learning spaces using the Learning On Wheels bus as a tool To adopt a pedagogy that is learner-centric thereby enhancing the learners holisitic learning competencies : creative confidence, collaboration, self-expression & academic outcomes To advocate for community-immersive educational interventions.

Expected Outcomes once these objectives are fulfilled:An increase in learner enrollment to these learning spaces activated by the Learning On Wheels buses, specially focussing the marginalized sections (women, school-drop outs) Enhancing of life skills & learning outcomes as assessed by Kshamtalaya's Life Skills Assessment Tool & Literacy & numeracy tools (ERGA & IRMA) by 20% as per the baseline score through a pilot demonstration of 6 months To increase Community engagement through monthly Education dialogues that will result in initiating community contribution and responsibilities fulfilled by them to run the Learning on Wheels bus.

Launch Of Hikvaari Gaadi

On December 30th, 2022, we witnessed the potential of the Hikvaari Gaadi (The Moving School) through the voices of the children it was designed for. Fifteen to twenty students from G.U.M.S. Kalandri school set up an experiential exhibition showcasing how this innovative Moving Vehicle had enhanced their academic performance, life skills, and entrepreneurial abilities. Former M.L.A. Rajasthan, elected by the people of Sirohi (1998-2008 & 2018-2023), and Secretary of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Rajasthan, Mr. Sanyam Lodha, inaugurated the event, adding significance to the occasion. The students' presentations highlighted the success of the Hikvaari Gaadi in providing a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
